The Piece Hall, Halifax, Calderdale, West Yorkshire, UK. Previously an eighteenth century Cloth Hall, this Grade I listed structure has an immense history. After declining with the rise of industrialisation, it was repurposed over the years. Following major renovations, it reopened in 2017 as a vibrant cultural and commercial hub, hosting shops, events, and exhibitions.
This scene illustrated using iPad Procreate over 19 hours features a figure inspired by Anne Lister, walking the square with a small flock of sparrows. Anne Lister was a pioneering Halifax landowner, diarist, and industrialist, renowned for her detailed journals and open relationships with women, earning her the nickname and inspiring the television series Gentleman Jack.
